Singing for Owego Elementary

The Valley Four performed for third grade students at Owego Elementary School on December 22, 2010. They sang a combination of popular and Christmas music, to an enthusiastic audience of engaged students and their teachers.

Singing for Tioga County Historical Society

The Valley Four performed two 40 minute sets of Christmas music on Friday, December 10, 2010, at 5:15 and 6:15 for the Tioga County Historical Society's O Tannenbaum program. The Museum is located at 110 Front Street, Owego, New York. Visit their WEBSITE for more information.

Singing for Newark Valley's Holiday Magic

The Valley Four will sang at two locations for this year's Holiday Magic in Newark Valley on Saturday, December 11, 2010. At 5:15 they performed 45 minutes of Christmas music in the Rolly Noble Room across from the Village Green. The at 6:30 they repeated the performance at the Depot off of Maple Street. Selections included "Frosty the Snowman," "Jingle Bells," "The Christmas Song" and "O Holy Night."

Valley Four Sing for Their Supper

On Thursday, November 4, 2010, the Valley Four presented a 20 minute program at St. John's Catholic Church for those who volunteered for the Newark Valley Historical Society's Apple Festival. As it would happen, the audience received a surprise preview. It turned out that the microphone in the sanctuary was on when the Valley Four went there to warm up.

Valley Four to Perform at ElderWood

On Saturday, November 20, 2010, at 6:30 pm, the Valley Four will perform at ElderWood Assisted Living at Tioga, 44 Ball Street, Waverly, New York. Music selections will include "Under teh Boardwalk," "Happy Together," "Give Me Jesus," Danny Boy," and others. Afterwards, we will also perform at ElderWood Health Care at Tioga, 37 North Chemung Street, Waverly, New York. Erik Larson will also be joining us for this performance.

Valley Four to Perform in the 6th Annual Newark Valley Community Concert for Scholarships

The Valley Four will be among Newark Valley Alumni and retired teachers performing at the 6th Annual Newark Valley Community Concert for Scholarships Saturday, October 16, 2010, at 7:00 pm in the Newark Valley High School Auditorium. Quartet member Mike Sheldon is a 1977 graduate of Newark Valley, Randy Kerr graduated in 1980 and Erik Larson in 1999, while George Lohmann taught English there from 1972 through 2006. They plan to perform "Silhouettes" and "The Banana Boat Song."

Valley Four to Do Benefit Concert at Waverly Presbyterian Church

The Valley Four will perform a benefit concert at the Waverly Presbyterian Church on Saturday, September 11, 2010. The 7:00 pm concert will take place in the sanctuary.
There is no admission charge for the concert, but a free-will offering will be taken to benefit the church’s ministry. In addition to the usual four members of the quartet, Erik Larson will be joining them for several numbers, sometimes as a stand in or as a fifth voice. Selections will include "Under the Boardwalk," "Hello, Mary Lou," "Happy Together," "Silhouettes," "That Lonesome Road," "Give Me Jesus," "Heaven's Joy Awaits" and "Danny Boy," among others. A dessert reception will follow the concert in the social hall. The Waverly Presbyterian Church is located at 459 Park Avenue, across from Muldoon Park and is handicapped accessible. Linda Peters and Kristin Cascio will also be performing with the Valley Four. Peters has a Master of Music degree from Mansfield University, with post graduate study with internationally acclaimed pianist Anthony diBonaventura. She is a nationally certified music teacher through Music Teachers National Association. Peters currently teaches piano in Corning and Elmira, performs with the Elmira Keyboard Quartet and the praise band Joyful Noise, and is the Music Director at The First Presbyterian Church of Waverly. Cascio grew up in a music-centered family and has been singing church choirs since she was five. She has participated in several community choirs such as The Binghamton Downtown Singers, The Choir of Hope and Rememberance in Anderson, SC, and the Valley Chorus here in Waverly. This is her first solo performance without being surrounded by a chorus. Cascio lives in Waverly and works at the Robert Packer Hospital in Wound Care.

On Saturday, July 17, 2010, from 7:00 to 9:30, the Valley Four will perform again at Tioga Trails Cafe on Lake Street in Owego, NY. Actually Erik Larson will also be singing with the quartet, sometimes subbing for a member, sometimes adding a fifth voice.

"Sweet Song" Concert Coming June 6, 2010

Plans are underway to present a concert titled "Sweet Song" featuring the Valley Four on Sunday, June v6, 2010, at 7:00 pm at the Newark Valley United Church of Christ, 36 Mail Street, Newark Valley, NY. Guest soprano soloist will be Christina Salasny of Windsor. Also performing are Aric Phinney, piano, Laurie Holdridge, recorder and saxophone, and Tamara Heiss, flute. Occasionally joining the quartet will be Erik Larson. Valley Four a cappella selections will include "Happy Together," "Delivered from the Hands of Pharaoh," "All I Have to Do Is Dream" and "That Lonesome Road."

Dinner Concert Rescheduled

The Valley Four have been invited to perform at the Union Center United Methodist Church, 128 Maple Drive, Endicott, New York, on Saturday, May 8, 2010. This event is a rescheduling of the February 27th event that was canceled due to the weather. The quartet will present an hour-long program titled "More Than Heart" at 7:00 pm, after dinner is served at 6:00. Selections will include "He Will Carry You," "Hello. Mary Lou" and "Danny Boy." Erik Larson will be standing in for Mike Ebbers for this event.

Valley Four to Sing at Valentine's Dinner

The Valley Four have been invited to perform at the Union Center United Methodist Church, 128 Maple Drive, Endicott, New York, for the church's annual Valentine's Dinner to be held on Saturday, February 27, 2010. The quartet will present an hour-long program titled "More Than Heart" at 7:00 pm, after dinner is served.

The Valley Four (minus one) Sing for Jo Dunn

Jo Dunn, a long time resident of Newark Valley, turned 100 on Thursday, January 29, 2010. To celebrate, her friend threw her an open house in the Rolly Noble Room from 1:00 to 4:00 on Saturday, January 30, 2010. To surprise her, the Valley Four--minus Mike Ebbers, who was in Texas attending a national barbershop convention--decided to "drop in" to sing a few numbers for the guest of honor. She particularly pleased to hear "Hush, Somebody's Callin' My Name" and Old Irish Blessing," observing that "you knew spirituals and Irish music were my favorite."

Valley Four at Newark Valley's Holiday Magic

On Saturday, December 12, 2009, the Valley Four performed during the Holiday Magic celebration in the Rollie Noble Room in Newark Valley, New York. Forty-five minutes worth of holiday music was offered, including "O Holy Night," "Frosty the Snowman," "In the Bleak Midwinter" and "Jingle Bells." Erik Larson joined Mike Ebbers, Randy Kerr and George Lohmann as Mike Sheldon had another engagement that evening. The Valley Four look forward to including Erik as a guest fifth member on future singing engagements.

Valley Four Perform are Tioga Trails

On Friday, October 23, 2009, the Valley Four performed three set of a cappella music at the Tioga Trails Cafe in downtown Owego, New York. Selections came from a variety of genre and included "That Lonesome Road," "Nellie Bly," "Under the Boardwalk," "Hush," "Yesterday," "I Got Rhythm" and more.
