Their Anthem was "He Will Carry You," arranged by Scott Wesley Brown and popularized by the Gaither Vocal Band. They finshed the service with "Old Irish Blessing."

About Us

Founded in the fall of 2007, the Valley Four debuted at the Newark Valley Railroad Station that December singing for the Holiday Festival. This all male quartet has done several other engagements for the Newark Valley Historical Society since, the Apple Festival among them. Several Church engagements have included services in Newark Valley, Berkshire, Waverly and Vestal. They were also a special feature of the Tappen Spaulding Library Centennial celebration.
Their repertoire consists of primarily American a cappella music covering the past two hundred years. They enjoy singing folk songs, spirituals, barbershop, pop, and sacred, among other genre. In June 2009 Valley Four performed their first full-length concert.
Valley Four members include founder George Lohmann of Berkshire who sings bass and Mike Ebbers of Owego singing baritone (replacing our original baritone Quinten Knudsen when he went off to college in September 2008), while Randy Kerr of Newark Valley and Mike Sheldon of Berkshire sing tenor. Lohmann, a retired Newark Valley English teacher who now is Director of the Tioga County Teacher Center, has been singing harmony as far back as he can remember. He has sung with the Valley Chorus and the Binghamton Symphony Chorus and has most recently been with the Madrigal Choir of Binghamton for the past ten years. Being part of a men’s a cappella quartet has been a long time dream. Ebbers, joining the quartet in September 2008, works as a technical writer for IBM, volunteering as an ambulance driver in his spare time. He also sings with the Southerntiersmen, a barbershop chorus out of Binghamton. Kerr also works for IBM, as an operations manager. He has just finished an engagement as the male lead for TiAhwaga’s production of Oklahoma. He has worked with TiAhwaga in many other capacities as well. Sheldon is a regular soloist for the Congregational Church of Berkshire. He has also sung solos for the First United Methodist Church’s Christmas cantata. His gardens have been featured on the Master Gardener’s Tour, but he particularly enjoys his role as grandfather.
